Upgrade of MatchWork IT Architecture
MatchWork is building a new front-end production platform with the overall goal of enabling faster client website delivery times. The new platform will also allow clients to manage their own solutions and provide the foundation for the continuous development of user-friendly solutions. The platform will, in time, enable programming access for advanced customers with a strategic need to maximize ownership and flexibility of their websites and need a best-of-breed online classified solution service provider.
The architecture employs the classic 3-tier model of presentation, business and data services.
The presentation layer functionality is delivered by using MatchWork’s new configurable Microsoft .Net components in conjunction with the SiteCore Content Management System. This will give website designers the ability to leverage standard CMS functionality alongside the specialized online classified capability from MatchWork.
The business layer encapsulates unique MatchWork functionality, including the matching algorithm, and makes this available to clients. Initially, client group access will be limited to the presentation layer but MatchWork plans to expand this to include business layer access when the architecture is ready. Using Microsoft Windows Communication Framework, MatchWork will be able to turn internal services into web services virtually at the flick of a switch.
In the data service layer, MatchWork has chosen to implement the FAST Enterprise Search Platform. This will help to deliver a rich and user-friendly interface to the end user and, by leveraging MatchWork’s CV and jobs databases, allow for amazing future online classified applications.
This development was initiated in late 2007 and you will see the first results on the product and service side in about two months.
